Fangs God It’s Friday: Lestat de Lioncourt

For setting this week’s Fangs God It’s Friday on cruise control. Tom Cruise, that is. I will admit that I was among the doubtful when “Maverick” was cast as Anne Rice’s most popular vampire Lestat de Lioncourt. Then I saw the trailer for the film, and it was obvious. He nailed the part. Some will dispute that, but all you need do to realize how good his Lestat was is to compare his performance with Stuart Townsend’s in Queen of the Damned (my sympathies if you watch that film).

Tom Cruise as Lestat de Lioncourt from Interview with the Vampire

Speaking as someone who read Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat, I think he did right by this bad boy vampire. He was also blessed with a script that got it right, too. There are always rumors of a Vampire Chronicles reboot, and I pity the guy who has to follow this act.
