Fangs God It’s Friday: Van Helsing

For this week’s Fangs God It’s Friday, I’m delivering some eye candy for the ladies (mainly for my wife). Yes, we give you the hottest vampire hunter from Down Under.

Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing from the film "Van Helsing"

Back in 2004, Hugh Jackman stepped into the role of Van Helsing in the film of the same name. Everyone was pumped for this film co-starring Kate Beckinsale, and there was all this talk about how Van Helsing was going to launch a series of films, but then it was released. The movie delivered about as unsexy a Dracula as you could get and then for no clear reason threw in the Wolfman and Frankenstein’s Monster, because… Oh, did I mention this was a film directed by Stephen Sommers? Yeah, he pretty much dropped a terrible film on moviegoers, and it’s a pity.

Part of me wishes we’d still seen another go with this character and with Hugh Jackman in the role, because the man can act. Even in a film with a script not quite up to snuff, I thought he made the most of what he had. I also think the idea of making Van Helsing a younger, badass hunter worked. It offered something different than we’d seen in previous films with the character. I just think the film got too crowded and convoluted.

Anyway, since I know my wife enjoys looking at the guy, I’m going to include another pic of Hugh. I’m sure he won’t mind.

Some more Hugh Jackman to make my wife happy

Okay, and maybe a few more.

And some more Hugh Jackman...

And now Hugh Jackman looks a little somber about this whole pandering to my wife thing.

All right. Hugh looks a bit morose about all this pandering, so we’ll start to wrap it up.

Seriously, when I reach the point of showing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in a suit and tie, I'm pandering.

Well, maybe just one more.

Relax, Hugh Jackman, it's finally finished. Just sit there and get wet, and we'll end on this.

Okay, Hugh. That’s good. You can go dry off now. Thanks.
