8 Days to Go

One of my favorite things about writing the Gidion Keep books is that I get to use many actual places. Sometimes locations show up because nothing else will work. Other times, I get to indulge in whimsy and highlight a few places I just happen to love. Gidion’s Blood doesn’t scrimp on showing off my home and Gidion’s. Here’s a list of real places that show up within the second book:

Blue Goat (restaurant)
Capital Ale House in Midlothian (restaurant)
Burger Bach (restaurant)
Urban Farmhouse in Midlothian (cafe)
Urban Farmhouse in Downtown Richmond (cafe)
Proper Pie (restaurant)
West Chester Cinemas
Patrick Henry Park
Midlothian Mines Park
Virginia Commonwealth University Emergency Room
Henrico County Public Safety Building, Training Center
Canal Walk (same place where Gidion’s Hunt starts)
Fountain Bookstore (which has hosted the book release for both of my Gidion Keep books)

As you can tell, I really enjoy showing off some of the food places in Richmond. The Urban Farmhouse cafe shows up twice on this list, because that particular cafe has several locations in the Richmond area. I wrote a large amount of the second book at the Urban Farmhouse located in Midlothian and a little at the downtown location.

And if you are in the Richmond area on the evening Gidion’s Blood comes out, come down to Fountain Bookstore on August 11th at 6:30pm for the release party.
