13 Things About Gidion Keep: Grumpy Dragon

1 Day to Go

Earlier this year, I revealed how Zombie Walk, the Gidion Keep short story included in my short story collection The Deadlands: And Other Stories crossed over with another story in the collection. When so many different plots and characters occupy the same brain, it’s difficult not to let them mingle. There are times I think some of the characters even take restraining orders out on the others, for all the good that does.

Grumpy Dragon doesn't like vampires because you should never eat meat after its expiration date.

As much as Gidion Keep has invaded a lot of my life, Windsor the Grumpy Dragon has made himself a very strong presence. Not only does Windsor feature in two of the twelve short stories in The Deadlands, but he accounts for almost half of the material posted on my blog. On top of that, Windsor started as a character in my webcomic The Wildcat’s Lair and is the most active character from the webcomic since I stopped producing those stories. With all that in mind, it was only a matter of time before Windsor found a way into the Gidion Keep, Vampire Hunter series.

Yes, that’s right. Windsor will make his first appearance in my YA series in my new book Gidion’s Blood. It’s just a cameo, and it’s not like he’ll say or do anything in the book, but when the opportunity presented itself to make a reference to Windsor, I knew I had to go for it. That’s all I’ll say about it for now. You’ll simply have to read the book to find out how I get Windsor in there.

I can’t quite believe the book release is finally tomorrow. Getting Gidion’s Blood to this point was a journey more challenging than I ever expected, but for all the obstacles, it came with a lot of blessings and fun moments. One of those fun moments should be tomorrow night at 6:30 when we celebrate the book release at Fountain Bookstore.

The deadliest vampire is the one that got away. The only monster Gidion Keep never expected to face has returned for Gidion's Blood. Rejoin the hunt August 11th!
