I’ve been doing my Fangs God It’s Friday feature for more than a year now. I’ve highlighted vampires as famous as Dracula and as obscure as Una (the vampire villain in Vampires: Los Muertos). I’ve highlighted vampire hunters like Van Helsing (the ladies really enjoyed that one) and Buffy. In all that time, I’ve put off featuring someone who might seem rather obvious: Gidion Keep. Well, Gidion’s time has come.
I’ve created a lot of images for Gidion during the past few years, like the one above, mainly for the book trailers to Gidion’s Hunt and Gidion’s Blood. I posed for all of the Gidion silhouettes in the first book’s trailer, but for the second book, my son also posed for a few of the pictures.
It’s weird to think Gidion has been part of my life now for five years. Even though the first book wasn’t published until 2013, I started the manuscript to the first book in the summer of 2010. My goal was simple: I wanted to write the best vampire hunter novel anyone had ever seen. Making it a YA book wasn’t originally the goal, but in crafting the story and my characters, that’s where it took me. I’ve never regretted it. Seeing the second book come out this week filled me with a joy and relief I can’t begin to describe. I’m looking forward to finding out what all of you think about it.
