Among the popular vampire hunters in anime is Saya from director Hiroyuki Kitakubo’s Blood: The Last Vampire. The main character of Saya (voiced by Yûki Kudô) is an original vampire who looks like a teenager and works with the government to destroy other vampires. She goes undercover as a student on a United States Air Force Base. It’s been a long time since I saw this film, but I recall that I found the story very open-ended. Perhaps that wasn’t the weakness I considered it at the time, because the 2000 anime film spawned an animated series and a live-action version of the film.
